apt-get purge kodi will remove it and any configuration files outside of your home directory.
You have to remove the configuration files from your home directory manually though.

See this link to find where they are

You are right. Keep it simple and use the confluence skin when using Kodi. Just put a few quality add ons on. For further information google 'seo michael'.

To remove any existing builds from your Kodi set up one of the best ways is to use an add on called 'Fresh start'.

If you are going to remove Kodi completely from your Linux Mint system you can use your software manager. With all varieties of Linux Mint the software manager I find best is 'synaptic'.https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/1266

Kodi can be reinstalled through Synaptic or by command line http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_Kodi_for_Linux

You do need a good broadband speed for things to work well. At least 10 Mbps download speed.

The listing from seo michael for best add ons October 2016 is a good place to make some selections from. Also a good idea is to use the Raw Maintenance add on to occasionally clear cache etc.

I have the kodi non shutdown issue on my media centre PC.

I gave up clicking exit and just force it closed now. Until the next update cures it.

Sorry that is completely wrong, Kodi will work just fine on half of that if not less.

I forgot to mention that the download speed mentioned was in respect of an Amazon Fire stick loaded with Kodi. I do have Kodi installed on other devices including laptops (Windows and Linux) but do not regularly use them for that purpose.

In my experience and of quite a few other users things will not run smoothly on just 5 Mbps. But if it works for you then great.
