Hi all!
We want to buy a small(ish) business and Unity Trust Bank are a potential mortgage lender. However in addition to the mortgage they insist on taking their banking services also.
Does anyone have experience of what it's like to run a business while banking with Unity - will I regret it compared to using the big boys (HSBC, Barclays, etc.), who I'm used to using for usual business banking chores day-to-day?
Thanks for any insight you can give.

What type of banking facilities do you need and want?
If you need high street facilities (such as counter service) then you are stuffed with Unity.
How does their service, product offerings etc compare with the others?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Are you in the voluntary sector / social enterprise etc? I'm a trustee of a registered charity and we use them. They work for us. Their online portal login is a bit clunky but it works. Most of our payments have to be signed off by two people, so one can post them and the other can log-on and authorise them.0

I am a trustee of a local charity and find Unity very good for that. But services are for us are limited - no bank card, just a cheque book and on-line banking for us. They provide an excellent phone based service, but a local branch will be really useful if you are going to be dealing with quantities of physical cash0

Thanks guys. Apparently you can use Natwest branches for in-person services as they are the clearing bank for Unity?0
