I know there are frequent questions from posters regards providers that offer healthy opening credit limits. Just thought i'd share my experience. I have two cards currently Barclaycard and Halifax - Respective Limits are £12.5k and £6k. Both have zero balances.
Just applied and been accepted for Tesco low-rate purchases card at 5.9%. I only applied for this as i shop in Tesco and want to take advantage of clubcard bonus points and it wont get used for anything else.
Credit Limit of £8,500 approved.
I'd have been happy with £500 as it will only be used for grocery shopping

I am with Tesco also and have the same limit. Really happy with the card, just not their online banking system :-(0
