Samsung galaxy tablet....repairs. advice needed on consumer rights

I bought a Samsung Galaxy s2 tablet just under a year ago. I have two issues with it.
One - it randomly turns off and on. This doesn't happen frequently but when it does happen, it happens at least three or four times in a row, as it can't handle being used.
Two - the charging port is a little wobbly. I took it into curry's today and told them the issues.
The guy behind the counter instantly said he could send it to Samsung but they're likely not to repair it as the issue is often caused by ramming the charger in the wrong way around. When I replied saying that was ridiculous because the chargers are shaped in such a way that they can only go in one way. He replied saying it happens all the time.
I came away feeling as though he was basically warning me that Samsung will wriggle out of repairing the tablet under warranty. Knowing I've not 'rammed the charger in the wrong way', or dropped or damaged the tablet in any way, I just wondered how I can protect my consumer rights without Samsung fobbing me off

Read the sticky at the top of this forum, that should tell you everything you need to know about Consumer Rights BUT do you have a warranty with the phone, if so invoke it although you may be required to send the tablet to Samsung.0

Le-kirk. I did read it but given a quick search on here and the rest of the internet tells me Samsung don't play ball. I have a two year warranty and will send the tablet back to Samsung through curry's but want to prepare myself just incase Samsung start saying that they won't repair under said warranty.0

With a damaged charging port, I don't fancy your chances of getting a free warranty repair.0

Even if I haven't done anything to damage it? It's still charging but just seems loose0

These ports can be easily damaged by people using the device whilst its plugged in etc.
They will say its user damage.0 -
But that's the thing. I don't use it whilst it's charging. I leave it to charge overnight0

Hi Penelope, this doesn't exactly help but I am also having a nightmare of a problem with Samsung over a warranty repair. I've concluded that the best course of action is to go against the seller of the goods (as you have a contract with them) and threaten them with legal action.
Alternatively you might consider contacting BBC Watchdog, your local Trading Standards, help columns in newspapers etc.0 -

But its from pushing the usb cable in that you get bent pins .Or indeed from trying to push in the wrong way round . It may not go in but may bend a pin in trying .
Samsung warranty is a limited warranty subject to the terms and conditions and fact is damage will be rejected for warranty repair .0
