Lloyds to buy MBNA?

I can't decide how I feel about this. I've got two cards with BarclayCard and I love them. They make it so easy to balance transfer with repeat deals (which is how I'm managing to keep my ongoing debt at 0% which is enabling me to pay it off quicker)
If Lloyds took on MBNA to complete with BC then I think it would be a good thing?Money money money.

An old story which is rehashed from time to time but I have not seen any confirmation from Lloyds nor MBNA. The question is will they or won't they and any answer at this time is pure speculation, nothing more than that!0

It's official, Lloyds is buying MBNA: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-38376747

As Lloyds are very generous with their credit limits and offer me really good deals I regard them purchasing MBNA a positive move. However I do hope the staff at Chester will not lose their jobs as happened when Egg was taken over by Barclaycard.0

What remains to be seen is whether or not the entire portfolio of cards stays or not. MBNA have card partnerships with just about everyone - from a wide range of airlines to football clubs. Will Lloyds be able to maintain it all? I also wonder how it will affect their existing, Lloyds-branded cards...0

Reading the link Earthboy has included to the BBC News article MBNA is continuing as a separate entity so I'd imagine their current card line up will continue for now.
Doesn't look like it'll have an impact on current Lloyds' customers either other than being unable to transfer balances between the two brands. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

I have done a bt from Halifax credit card to my Lloyds credit card with no issues. So based on that I can see no reason the same should not be applied with MBNA.0 -
It depends if they keep the seperate banking licence - which I doubt.
It will just be merged with Lloyds Bank, further down the line, with MBNA becoming a trading name.I have done a bt from Halifax credit card to my Lloyds credit card with no issues.
