Problem with Amazon

Options
Back in August 2014 I bought a Asus Video card from amazon for £499.99.
4 weeks ago it was causing my PC to Blue screen and was able to find that it was the card causing this.
I first contacted amazon about this and they said they couldn't do anything as it was over 2 years since I bought it.
I got onto Asus and they said it has a valid 3 year Manufacturers Warranty and that it had to be returned to the retailer to process the claim and they didn't deal directly with the customers.
Getting back to amazon, and there was no change in their position and were very anti any further discussion about it.
I have got onto CAB about it, they have handed it over to TS but I have not heard anything back.
Should I wait for TS or just forget about it as a lost cause?

Do I have any recourse about the Warranty?

How did you pay for this thing?

Hopefully you used a credit card. If so speak to your card issuer about a claim under Section 75 of The Consumer Credit Act.

You might want to read MSE's Section 75 article first.

Well you are pretty much screwed tbh, the retailer does not have to deal with manufactures warranties.

This leaves you with going down the consumer rights road against the retailer but that means engineers report to state its a manufacturing defect that caused the problem. So you need to prove your case before they have to do anything. Even then Amazon will tell you to do one and ban your account if you push to hard.

The S75 route is the same, they will also tell you to prove the fault is not your fault, although they wont ban you from using the card again.
  • Paid for using Visa Debit card. Don't think it has same protection as Credit Card. Not thought of asking about this to be honest.

Thanks for your inputs on this.

No harm in asking the bank about it.

    Indeed it doesn't.
  • Tried through Bank. Said they only deal with purchases up to 180 days ago. :(
