Koh Lanta or not

Can anyone advise, I was planning to spend 7 nights of my SE Asia trip on Koh Lanta, with my last night in Bangkok, we fly to Phuket from Siem Reap. The trouble is everywhere I've tried is either full, has bad reviews ( mainly dirty) or is too expensive. I'm left with Holiday Villas ( only criticism so far is gheckos in rooms) don't mind that as they eat the mossies. Can anyone recommend either another resort or another island within reach of Phuket? We are a middle aged couple, love snorkelling, sunsets etc, and somewhere where there are other bars and restaurants locally, so not too remote. We were planning to fly out of Krabi to Bangkok.

When you travelling? What standard / budget / facilities did you have in mind?

here are no shortage of lovely places on islands off Phuket & Krabi catering to different people, i'm sure we can make plenty of recommendations.

Travelling in feb, was looking at paying upto 3000 bht but would prefer less. The Holiday Villas are 2150. I've e mailed them. Its the only one I've found that's within budget with good reviews.
