Stop getting your figures from the Mail. Health tourism is minor in comparison regardless of what those rags tell you.

Money is money from whatever source it comes from. In this age of austerity. Remember the adage of our grandparents. Take care of the pennies and the pounds look after themselves.

National Insurance Contributions is how NHS funding started. Further sums also come from general taxation....

National Insurance contributions largely go into the National Insurance Fund and pay for benefits. Some NI money gets allocated to the NHS, but 80% of NHS money comes from general taxation.

Although I think NHS Wales etc is simply funded by a block grant, as the Emglish now let the Celts make their own decisions about this sort of thing.

This may be a sensible thing to do but sadly the cost is marginal compared with the NHS deficit.

Taking it down to a base level. I required an MRI scan the other day. Besides the cost of the scanner etc. There were 8 staff on duty during the 40 minutes I was there. Not an inconsiderable cost to be funded.

You can Google the cost of an MRI scan. The private sector does them for about £400-£600. Although it might be more expensive with contrast.

I had four of the blighters a couple of months ago; darned noisy if you ask me, but that's about £2k gone as a start.

I should like missed appointemnets paid for. You miss an appointment and don't inform the surgery in time to give that appointment to another patient the next time you have to pay before an appointment is made. I rarely go to the GP or hospital but when I have a long wait to get an appointment and then see the figures on the noticeboard it's really annoying.

I once went into the dentist and a person was being turned away " there were no vacances on the list" but there were! The receptionist said that person had booked 3 appointments in the previous couple of months and turned up to none of them and not phoned to cancel, the same with his wife.
