Council offering to sell me a garage pending valuation, what would it be worth?

Hi all.
I currently rent a garage off the local council, unfortunately it's not close enough to my house. They have been in touch asking if I would like to buy one that's on my property line, pending valuation and inspection. It's a standard single garage in Skelmersdale (just outside of Wigan, north west England). What do we think it's worth?
Thanks,

How much is it worth TO YOU is the question.0

Ummm, about 3 grand.
Good idea to buy it as not only is it handy for you, but having a garage will probably add value to your property.Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!
You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more!0 -
Thanks for the replies so fad. Unfortunately I cannot get a picture as I'm not currently in the UK.
The garage is brick with a flat roof, metal up and over door, no power, window or extra doors. I could potentially add power as the back of the garage is only a few feet from my house. Size wise it's roughly 5m by 2.4m. We would mainly use it for storage as it's a tight fit for my car. It does have the benefit of having a driveway to the front of it though so would increase our parking capacity at the back of my house.0 -
You need to wait for the pending valuation to get an idea what it's worth!0

I appreciate that but it would be nice to have a rough idea as I'm trying to work out finances. The area is full of cheap houses as it's not a desirable area so to speak (I personally love it).
The council are looking to refurbish the garages to rent out but I guess they're also looking to offload some to help fund the refurbishment works.0 -
I rent a council garage that backs on to my garden, I have thought about trying to buy it but it is in a block of about twenty, joined together with slotted concrete walls and back and has an asbestos roof.
It will probably be freehold as well so all I will be buying will be the floor in my opinion.0
