Toilet continually blocking

I've cobbled together a routine to unblock my blocked toilet, which is 70-80% the case every morning. But the next day is the same. I suspect there is no change because there is something in there - sock, etc.
I've seen there are some augers available: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Monument-3350D-Toilet-Assorted-colors/dp/B0002JT3O8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1480173949&sr=8-1&keywords=toilet+augers
Is this something I should try for myself? I have watched the youtube videos and it looks doable; but some reviews suggest it could double back on itself - and make the job a disaster?
So, should I have a go or leave it to the experts?
And if so, can you recommend a better auger than the one I have posted?
Thanks guys.

What's that going to do when it gets to the sock or whatever? It may just push it further down. If you think it's worth a try then I have one from Screwfix, seems to have a similar end but reaches further:

Just get someone like Dynarod to come in and sort it out properly.0

Principles of building are a blockage should be worked uphill to retrieve the blockage. If it is pushed downhill you risk forcing the blockage to an even more innaccessible place.
Be careful with any toilet. If it has a flexi coupler on the waste you could wreck this by ramming items down to rod the blockage. It is even possible you may have a flexi coupler into a soil pipe so again be careful0 -
Furts, in my unblocking routine, I work it by "pulling up", which is what works. But is that going to retrieve a sock, etc? I was hoping the auger grabbed the offending item and you reel it back into the bowl?0

last time I heard about a blockage as frequent as this it was one of those cage things that hangs on the side of the toilet with a blue block in it, fallen in and stuck in the u bend. No chemical would shift it obviously and customer had tried the one shot drain unblocker stuff twice. We removed the pan and found the darn thing.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

It may work but you have not said what connector you have for drainage. It is your choice, but a foolproof way would be to remove the toilet, take the blockage from the pipe, then put the toilet back in place.0 -
Are you getting a good strong flush from the toilet cistern? We had an apparent blocking problem a few years back caused by a partially disintegrated plastic diaphragm in the syphon. Little bits of plastic had got into the channels and holes around the top of the toilet pan and reduced the flow. A new syphon and a lot of poking about around the pan fixed it.0
