:rotfl::rotfl:....and that's exactly the tactic I used when faced with a snooper before now.
I gather they were quite shocked to read the "appropriate" comments I had left just where they would see them if they snooped - but not if they didn't snoop:D. Well - they did ask for that....0 -

Elephant ... a late reply from me!
I am a professional landlady ~ I've let 3 rooms continuously for 18 years and here is my take on this.
Your LL is stupid for not putting the gas CH on. It's the cheapest way to heat the house and keeps everyone happy.
As a lodger you have zero legal rights. You are nothing more than a house-guest. You are however entitled to old fashioned courtesy and consideration.
I NEVER enter a lodger's room except when I have to, for example to let a builder in to inspect, or for me to inspect, for the purposes of maintenance, or to let a prospective new lodger view after present lodger has given notice.
I was amused to read upthread of the LL who accidentally knocks over paperwork whilst cleaning. I never clean anyone's room - it's in the House Rules that they have to clean their own.
You WILL find another LL who is a nice, happy, reasonable person! We do exist!
