Credit Checks

I have never borrowed money.

I have noticed there are a number of websites that offer a free service to check credit ratings and give similar information.

Out of interest, I would like to put my name and details into their engines just to see what is revealed. I would expect a blank slate.

However, It occurs to me that if I use these engines it might leave a record that my name has been checked and this could give others the impression of a doubt regarding my name.

Am I worrying unnecessarily, or do I have a point?

Hi,

If you want to check your credit file go to noddle.co.uk, fill in your details, and sign up for there free service.

You are an individual, i assume, so checking your own file does not count as a search, it will leave no record.

Its only lenders credit checking you for new borrowing, or some other service, whose searches show on your file.

It should show you on the Electoral Roll.
It may show previous addresses.
It will show your current accounts and their management.
It will show various searches made.

So not a blank slate at all.
