Cooperative bank account - have I been accepted?

I have been living outside the UK for almost three years.
I'm now back in the UK and not yet on the electoral roll. Last week I applied online for a current bank account with Cooperative bank.
After applying they sent me a generic email. I haven't heard anything since. It has now been a week. Does this mean I have not been accepted?
If I don't hear,do I call them or apply for another account?
Does anyone recommend any bank accounts? :cool:
