They've just expected a straight swap, which is naive as it's very rarely a straight swap and ideally you want the tray dropping to the floor anyway.
I don't think you've been charged for a thorough job as well as not getting one, at least.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Two weeks later and we are all finished. We insisted on the plasterboard being tanked, and they added another thin layer of board to the back so it was flush with the tray, so that has sorted one worry. The finish is lovely. However, there's a bit of a creak from the shower tray. I did ask him to make absolutely sure that it was on a stable base, and it's not bad enough that I can feel any movement at all. Could it just be "settling in"? I suppose it's too late now whatever it is. Having work done is stressful! I have learned a lot from this experience!0
