Thinking about going to Cuba next year...but OH has heard that if you do, there will be a chance we can't go the USA the following year because Cuba and the USA don't like each other? Is this right?

Googling for 'cuba passport paper stamp' finds some useful reports. It seems as though it shouldn't present difficulties (less than having your passport stamped 'Iran', anyway...), but if you're concerned you can get them to stamp a piece of paper rather than your passport. Just make sure you keep that piece of paper for any passport inspections and final exit!0

My uncle and family go to both several times a year (am not jealous really!), and have never had a problem. There are political issues between the two (I don't know the details), but I think the fact that you are a Brit (assuming you are?!) would override that.Gone ... or have I?0

My sister used to live there. She loved it there and made great money working in a pub on the beach :P but seriously. That part of Florida is very beautiful and GREAT for couples.

Cuba won't stamp your passport. You have to apply for a tourist card, (or you get one as part of the package) it is basically a tourist visa, and they stamp that instead. There will be nothing on your passport to indicate you went there.
In theory you shouldn't have any problems anyway, as the USA sanctions only apply to USA citizens, but they enforce them so viciously it can cause problems, which is why Cuba introduced the tourist card. It is very much USA who are causing the problems.
Cuba itself is beautiful, and great fun, but (unless you spend the whole time on an all inclusive resort) you won't be able to miss the devastating effects of the USA sanctions. The empty shelves in the shops, schools with no paper or pencils, no medicine, not even ibruprofen, food shortages, etc. The classic cars may look great, but they are just another sign of how the Cuban people are forced to live because of America's greed and vanity. I had no idea how bad it was over there until we went on holiday.
Florida is OK, you know what you are getting, it's nice enough and there is a lot to do (though it does seem to be very geared to families) but I've never found it to be anything special.
Cuba on the other hand is mind blowingly different. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
the americans like cuba so much that they set up camp on one side of it and have 'tourists' from all over the world visiting !!! (in orange suits)0
