Which credit card for student?

I wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the credit card section.
Basically I need a credit card. Im only planning on buying 1 thing with it, an engagement ring for my boyfriend. The problem is, Im a full time student (at college not uni) & I don't work. I have never had a credit card, loan or overdraft before. I have accounts with 3 catalogues & have never had a late payment on anything since moving to my flat almost 3 years ago.
Can anyone advise which card would possibly accept me? I want a low interest rate, but don't want lots of searches showing on my credit file.
Help!
Please & thank you

Couldn't you just save up the amount you'll pay in interest each month, and then buy a ring in a few months?!? If it's meant to last then whether you buy a ring now or in 6 months time should matter!
Why not buy a joke ring for now, as a token, then save up for the real thing?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Better yet why not get a Christmas job-the stores are now recruiting. Plenty of part-time work around that would pay for the ring (maybe you could even get staff discount on the ring if you find the right job)-that'd be very MSEI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I'd love to get a job, but by the time I paid for childcare costs etc. There would be nothing left. Im already saving for a holiday next year, so to save for a ring aswell would take me over a year.0
