Can we get out of Peugeot just add fuel?

I'm just trying to settle an argument, we got.a car through them in March. Found out we were having another baby a couple of months later. It will fit us all in at a squeeze but ideally we would have a bigger car.

Hubby has spoken to a different car retailer explained our situation and was told there were ways to get out of it. I'm not so sure, I thought there were big fees to get out can anyone shed some light?

What do the terms and conditions say? Or the retailer you bought from?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

There will be fees and clearly outlined in the contract you signed. Basically what the other retailer wants to do is sell you one of their cars and hide the fees with smok and mirrors.

There will be a settlement fee to pay off what you borrowed.

That's what I thought. Hubby said he has told them we have no money to pay off anything and apparently she said don't worry it can be done but you'll have to come in and speak to us. I said to him she wants us to go in so she can sell to us!!

Correct and attempt to hide the true cost in the process. You'll be able to do it but be careful they are not just deferring the cost. I've been in your position and it was cheaper to manage with a smaller car and hire a bigger car for the few times we actually needed it.

We also have the problem of the capped mileage, we thought 10k a year would be ok, but it isn't, what a mess!

There is always a way out yes, will it leave you financially worse off? Most likely.

Some garages will add the money you owe on the current car into the finance for your new car. But then your pay ££££ for a car worth MUCH LESS.

Unless you have literally £,£££s that you are happy to put in to the deal (either in cash or as extra payments over the new term), i'd be inclined to stick with the car you have for the term.

I know "make do" is not seen as the done thing these days, "want it right now" is going to cost a lot of money.
  • As I understand it, "Just add fuel" is personal contract hire. The usual exit terms for pch involve you paying 50% of the remaining payments.

So for example if you're payments are £200 a month, on a 3-year lease, and you want to get rid after only 1 year, you have to pay £200 x 24 x 50% = £2,400

I can't imagine many scenarios where you'd not be out of pocket.
