Kwik Fit failed to spot serious welding issue during MOT
Hello all, I wonder if anyone could advise me on this issue.
My car failed its MOT at Kwik-Fit due to issues with the suspension. They gave me a list of 3 items that needed repair. I had to wait just under a month before I had the money to get the work done, whereupon I took the car to a local garage, who quoted me £60 less for the work. Once they had completed the repairs, they told me the car had failed due to a tear in the chassis that was quite dangerous. He said this should have been spotted by Kwik-Fit. I'm now looking at around £200 on top of the original repairs. I didn't drive the car much after the original failure, and the local mechanic said there was no way this damage would have occurred during that time anyway. Can anyone tell me if I have a case against Kwik-Fit for their failure to spot this?
Thanks.

What you want compo because your car failed the mot because it's a rust bucket?
No chance, the rust was there before you took the car in, they didn't cause it.0 -
yeah you have a case, they will offer you a free MOT voucher for that car with a six month expiry date.
But seriously .... No.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -

Who said anything about rust? The mechanic showed me the damage, there is no rust, its a tear. Thanks for contributing.0 -
OP, I don't really understand what you are looking for? What loss have you suffered at the hands of Kwik-Fit?0

Pay for the repairs and take it back to kwikfit for the retest.I do Contracts, all day every day.0

what car do you own that has a chassis ?0

So KF did the original MOT, you had it repaired elsewhere and it seems like you had a second complete test done on it, where it failed on a tear in the chassis.
What do both lots of MOT paperwork say as to what were the failures?
What vehicle is it?0 -
So your new garage did all these cheap repairs and didnt notice a tear in the chassis either?
What are the chances of the tear being right where they placed their jack to do the suspension work?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
