Misleading sites selling from HongKong

Hi, If its cheaper, it could be too good to be true! Ive been searching to purchase a 1 plus2 phone on line. I know its not a well known make in the UK, but a friend has one I fancy one too. I put a search in google for 1 plus 2 best buy. 3 sites came up Venture Direct at £228. Mobicity UK and ONE digitals UK after getting a chat icon come up from venture, I was asking about delivery times, and she said , 3 to 5 weeks?? I said the website says 3 to 5 days! oh yes, after that it takes 3 to 5 weeks. Turns out they are selling from Hong bloody Kong! I tried the same thing with the other 2 sites, and no chat icon came up. I wish I knew who to report these sites too. How many people have been mislead by this chat! Happy Black Fridays everyone

I've bought stuff from Hong Kong in the past with no problem. I got my current iPad Pro at around £100 less than I would have paid over here.

I find Hong Kong ships fast but mainland China ships much slower

I assuming you trying to buy new. It's difficult to find a trustworthy uk retailer since oneplus 2 is no longer been produced since oneplus 3 came out and now there is the one plus 3t .
It's not really misleading. No where does it say it's guaranteed to deliver to you within 3-5 days. It only say it's guaranteed to ship from its warehouse in 3-5 days.

Where is the issue? The reasom your looking at those = price yes?

They are cheap because nobody had paid any tax/duty on them. Add some tax and duty and some profit then search for your item at that price and UK sellers will come into the results.

Im guessing the addresses on the website will be HK ones and the registered address also a non UK address?

Whats misleading about them the UK in the title and .co.uk? The registered address for onedigitals clearly says Kowloon. And the same address on their Contacts page.

So they are not being secretive about their location like some others.

I buy a lot of stuff from China and have no issues with that. Except one where one empty box and one damaged box arrived.
But the seller sent me the correct item. Which arrived within days.

Is it a shock that cheap Chinese phone comes from China?

its a fact of how the international postage market works

Research the universal Postal union (a UN agency) and terminal dues.

In short, the Royal Mail gets a fixed price from China to deliver every kg of items, not per item, per kg.

This price is set every 4 years.

Currently The China->UK rate is very very low, which means that the very light items only pay the UK postal service a tiny fraction of the price of a stamp, at the China end of things, its also very cheap, as its all just thrown on a ship from their massive ports, using cheap labour and massive economies of scale.

all this means its much cheaper to send a 100g item from China to London than it is from Luton to London.
