How to spray boots silver?!

For all you crafty minded people out there. I'm going to a Fancy Dress party after Christmas and the theme is Sci Fi. I've made my silver space suit (don't laugh) and have a lovely purple wig (remember the series UFO?)...
Now I just need to spray a pair of boots silver. I've a got a cheap pair that fit well but are black faux leather in a patent finish. It doesn't have to be long lasting, just for that first bit of the party as everyone arrives.
Do you think silver car paint would work? Or would acrylic craft paint be better?
Any ideas gratefully received.

Any spray paint would be fine if it's temporary. I wouldn't worry about specific car paint etc- just get the cheapest!
Silver acrylic paint would work too, but may take longer to do/dry0 -
A light sanding with fine sandpaper will help the paint to stick. If the boots have been polished in the past, a wipe down with thinners first should remove the worst of it.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Thank you, both of you! Yes, good idea to wipe them down with a solvent first. And to key them a bit with fine sandpaper. I'll have a go next week.0

How about wrapping your boots with aluminum foil (secure it with double sided tape)?0

I went to a Christmas fancy dress, must have been nearly 30yrs ago now, as Gary Glitter. And i made a silver suit out of Baco Foil. I think i used car spray to paint my shoes, and ..........

No. It was a dancing school i use to go it ............ (Ed Balls, eat your heart out). I think i have said on here before, the car broke down on the motorway and i had to sit there waiting for the Rac. You're not embarrassed at the party 'cos everyone is dressed daft, but i was certainly embarrassed on the motorway.
Looking back you can laugh.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Not always..
Looking back you can laugh.
As a 'cool' teenager, I took my Mum to work, driving in just my PJs.
On the way back I was pulled over by one of those traffic surveys.... and all the people wth clip boards were young women.
I did pull into the lay-by, but the sight of two nubile females descending on me while I was so inappropriately attired was just too much, so I floored the pedal and shot out the other end.
I then drove rather fast and took a complex route home., thinking the police would surely give chase. They didn't.
It was an experience that stayed with me for quite a few years. Now, I'd not care at all, but at 18 people's confidence is often wafer thin.0
