I've been asked to buy sweet white wine for a Christmas present so could someone recommend something under £10 a bottle that I can buy from a supermarket.

Just search sweet wine on whatever supermarket you shop from.
i.e. Tesco comes up with a few, this one within your budget http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=255242081I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. How sweet is sweet ?
There's ones that are really sweet like Sarah has linked to or there's Moscatel de Valencia which is really sweet like the Premiere Cotes De Bordeaux.0 -
This is made from honey rather than grapes and would make an excellent, slightly different choice: http://www.waitrosecellar.com/english-wine/lyme-bay-traditional-mead0

Ask an assistant or take a note with you of the ones which you've identified on the website as possible purchases.0
