Any recommendations? I couldn't find a post that said this, but could be being silly
Thanks

I have a really bad memory so would like to use an agency to investigate for me, I know they would be taking a cut, but it is better than not getting anything at all.

Claims companies don't know who you had finance with, you have to tell them! Your finance is not public information.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Last 6 years will be on your credit file yes, Noddle (CallCredit) and ClearScore (Equifax) are free and should give you those details, beyond that it's your memory

My apologies, I was sure a friend said she used a company who found a couple of accounts she had forgotten she had.Official DFW Nerd 210

There's a fairly high chance they simply sent letters of complaint to everyone in the hope some were validSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

So, you can't remember if you had credit or presumably PPI either? Given that, how do you think you were mis-sold it?0

99% of all PPI Insurance was mis-sold, as Bank staff lied about it being compulsory, or it was included without the debtors knowledge.
The reasons why it was mis-sold are varied and widespread, but the banks made a lot of money from PPI.

99% - no, not based on the uphold rates at the (consumer biased) FOS
Bank staff (as well as sales staff in shops, car dealerships etc) may have lied, they may have been told to meet targets
It was almost never included without the knowledge of the person - every credit card PPI policy would be listed as a separate charge every single month on the statement. PPI on loans would be listed in the paperwork that was signed.
The sort of PPI on store cards may be dubious, MPPI could save your home. People not claiming on the policy because they didn't need to doesn't mean having the cover there was pointlessSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
