Bailiffs went to my old address

Hi, I really need some advice as I have no idea what to do. I found out from an old neighbor that earlier this week bailiffs went to my old address (apparently they also had policemen with them) and barged in and immediately started grabbing items. The person that lives there (doesn't know me) had to show them proof etc. and only then did they leave. He also had loads of letters addressed to me about the fine, the visit from the bailiffs etc. The bailiffs took all of the letters with them.
I think this is for an unpaid parking ticket, I haven't committed any crimes nor due I owe any money on anything else so it must be this. I have sold my car a while ago and currently do not own another one. I'm sure the bailiffs will find out where I live currently and tbh I don't want to keep running as I only found out today and I'm already stressed out like crazy. But I'm sure that this fine will have risen to insane amounts and I won't be able to afford to pay it. Furthermore I don't have any documentation about any of it so I'm really in the dark. I don't want to tell the bailiffs where I live etc.
What is the best course of action?
Thank you all for the help.
UPDATE 28/11/16 - So I just received a letter in the post from a company called collect services.
It says the fine is for a PCN issued in January and that a warrant has been re-issued for my current address. The total is just under £500 which I cannot afford.
What can I do? How do I stop the bailiff's from coming to my address?

If you have a CCJ against you for an unpaid parking charge, (or any other debt), then the claimant may have used the bailiffs as a means of enforcing the judgement. They would have gained authority from the court to do so - though the bailiffs look to have acted over enthusiastically, and the householder should complain about the way they behaved.
You can find out if there are any ccjs against you by checking up at noddle. This is free, so start off by checking there then take it from what you discover.
(How did you get on with your PCN from Wing you posted about in 2014 - maybe that is the creditor involved??)0 -

Yes I spoke to Sheila who was mentioned above and she said advised an out of time witness statement which would stop the warrant. For a fee she said she could write me one up so I sent the fee on good faith and also due to the recommendation from this forum. However I am still waiting to receive the statement....hoping I wasn't naive and am about to get ripped off.0 -

I thought if you don't admit bailiffs, they are no longer allowed to just 'barge' in? You might need to get a chain on the door and make sure you use it; then the bailiffs would have to force entry which I don't think is allowed anymore; is that correct?0
