Did I just get a next day upgrade free?
I'd been considering a Fire TV stick but decided to wait for a BlackFriday deal. Amazon dropped it from £32.99 to £24.99 yesterday and I guessed that was going to be this years cheap deal so ordered it. I don't have Prime and with half the year spent mostly on 4G don't want it so picked the cheapskate free delivery.
Last night I read a Maplin newsletter and their BF deal for it is £22.99 with 7 in stock locally. I checked the Amazon site and it said dispatch would be 28th so I tried to cancel. Got an immediate email that it couldn't be cancelled but I could refuse delivery or return later.
This morning I got an email saying it's out for delivery. This could be coincidence but considering this must be their busiest time of the year I'm just wondering if they didn't just do a free upgrade in the hope I'd keep it. I will as I don't really relish the town traffic on BF having been caught by surprise a few years back when I didn't even know it was BF.

I'm guessing today isn't one of your days on planet Earth! Totally lost me.0

I think you've just proved your sig0

Its probly just coincidence. I always find that Amazon deliver earlier then they say they will .
FYI Argos have had them at £24.99 since Tuesday !!0 -
It certainly could be as I've found that too but I was expecting the long haul at this busy time.
I saw them at £24.99 in Argos but that's a fair drive for me and I was expecting a better Amazon discount having read they were £17.99 last year somewhere or other.0 -
I've ordered things using their "no rush 3 - 5 business days" option and it's arrived the next day!
It all depends on where the closest dispatch point with the item is at the time you order.
the no rush orders (i think) go out last thing so they might get delayed by a day if they get a rush of "next/ same day" items to process first.
But if, like me, you're in an area that does not have a lot of "same day" coverage. That means you're more likely to get things on a 1-2 days even if you have it on the "no Rush" delivery.
*edit*
and most people will have held off ordering in the past few days to wait for the Friday sales, so other orders would go through quicker than usual.

Amazon hold a huge multi location invetory/carrier set up. Do you really think they will advance an order to clinch a sale?,especially for such low value?
Its not their busiest time yet.0 -
I think it depends where you live.
I always opt for the free delivery option and of my last six Amazon purchases four of them arrived next day and one on the second day. The one that did take 3-5 days wasn't fulfilled by Amazon. My last order was placed a week ago on Friday afternoon and it was delivered at 08:30 next day on Saturday morning.
My view is that there are so many Amazon Prime users in my nearest town that Amazon are in the area every single day delivering and my 3-5 day delivery stuff is processed and simply ends up on the next available van.
It used to happen only occasionally but over the last year or so has become normal, I'm assuming because more people are signing up to Prime.
I had imagined that Amazon would build in some sort of delay to free delivery orders to prevent this as it gives me no incentive at all to sign up.
I do wonder if Amazon staff are ignoring some guideline or process somewhere and we're getting next day when we shouldn't. Either way I'm not complaining. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
I don't think there is any chance of any personal intervention - I just wondered if it was an automated thing for items they want to shift - they are advertising the Fire stick heavily and it would often lead to follow on sales. It was the fact it was showing several days before shipment when I tried to cancel that I thought there was something odd about the outcome.
I have ordered another three items recently although two were from Marketplace sellers - one took the full time, one is now late, and the third item which I ordered on BF is still sitting waiting despatch.0 -

More likely its an item they stock in all/most warehouses.0
