UKPC Coventry. Are they genuine?

Hi,

Had a random email from UK Parking control saying that I have a ticket from 26th October 2016.

I know it cannot relate to my car as it was in the garage for repairs on the day before and was towed back to the garage on the 26th from my drive as it wouldn't start.

I am loathe to download anything from their website in case they aren't genuine. I tried inputting my registration and their reference number but it comes up as invalid.

I've found a phone number 0333 220 1030. Is it best I just phone up as this must be a mistake?

Is there not a phishing scam like this going around at present?

Next time, may I respectfully suggest that you use google before coming here.

Definite scam (moreso perhaps than the real scam)!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • If it's a scam, they have been very thorough. The website looks genuine and very detailed.

Do you to think so? "NOTICE TO TICKET HOLDER" terms and conditions "transpiring"? I think it was concocted by my good friend Engineer Mr Adebole Adeyemi.

  • I, for one, am glad the OP mentioned this. I'm pretty much up with scams but this one slipped under the radar. Thanks OP.

Ask yourself, how can I have a random email from a parking company I have had no dealings with?

PPC's do not send out their silly PCN's via email, it's done by window ticket and letter to addresses from details held by the DVLA.

I have had scam emails from paypal, but the scammers usually include links to the real paypal site terms and conditions etc to try to trap you by thinking it's genuine.
  • There are many people who have always been dead straight and paid all the tickets given without query, these are the unfortunates that these scum prey on. Send out 10,000 random emails and you can bet on hundreds who just pay cos it looks official. We are more aware on here but there are lots who aren't.

This particular scam notwithstanding, if you ever get a 'real' PPC ticket, you NEVER phone any PPC or debt collector - all they want is money and you could make challenging them needlessly more difficult.
