Hi folks,
My partner had an old Galaxy s2 phone for a good few years now and is on the lookout for a new phone, well does have to be able to enlarge the text messaging that she receives as it seems it is not available on her present s2.
What would you recommend in the £150 to £250 price bracket?
that has the ability to enlarge the received text messages font, zoom in etc.
Thanks a lot of any advice.

Probably not the suggestion you're looking for, but as this is MSE... :-)
I also have a Samsung Galaxy S2 (my first and only smartphone!). I recently installed Cyanogenmod -- custom firmware which replaces the version of Android installed. This also upgraded the kernel from Android 4 to 6 (Ice Cream Sandwich to Marshmallow).

Honestly, it's like having a new phone. It performs so much more smoothly.
I'm pretty sure you can change the default font size, and even install different messaging apps to send SMS and MMS messages.
It took me a bit of fiddling to get Cyanogenmod installed, but I can probably guide you through most of it if you get stuck. It's easy once you know how, but I made a bit of a hash of it at first, as you can see from the thread below:

Using Moto g4 right now. They are OK. Only problem is don't have nfc.
Friend of mine got Samsung J5 2016. Looks OK to me.0 -

As above, also I don't think they have a magnetometer (no compass) but value for money they are hard to beat. I consider no NFC a feature given the security issues surrounding it.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -

Whilst inside the text message screen, press the bottom left menu button and go to settings,
click the box that lets you change the text size with the volume keys
et voilà0 -

No probs with iplayer (any of them)
I have just downloaded santander app and it appears to work. It gets to the log on screen without moaning. I can't test anymore than that as I don't have an account with them.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0
