  • What do you feel insurers are doing by "misusing" CUE?
  • if u havn't realised insurance companies are using CUE to see if drivers have had any non claim accidents and if they do then their prices rise up. I have seen mine go from £1300 to £2250+. For an accident which was not my fault.

Just because an accident wasn't your fault it doesn't mean that you couldn't have avoided it if you were more aware while you were driving. Plus statistics show that people who have an accident even if its non fault they are still more likely to have another one!.
  • how can you avoid someone hitting in to the back of you when you are idle abit stupid to say i should have been more aware!!!

If you read my comment again you will see it is a general comment aimed at all non fault accidents. I have no idea of the circumstances of your accident so it would be impossible for me to tell you how you could have avoided it.
  • I'm still not seeing any misuse of CUE. If anything, quite the opposite.

It sounds like you've nondisclosed a claim (albeit non fault), and you're disappointed they've re-rated the risk you present on the correct infomation and the price has increased.

I will admit the increase seems disproportionate but that's the insurers commercial decision to do that.
  • To be honest with you, from an insurers perspective; you've not disclosed some information (deliberately withholding information when asked is application fraud) and been caught out.
If this claim had put you outside of their acceptance criteria, you've have had a cancelled policy to then disclose on top of the claim.

That would have been a far bigger problem for you...

Don't forget even if you are non fault, if your insurers have not recouped their costs from the Third party, it will be treated as Fault until such time all costs repaid.

Calling other posters "a bit stupid" is a surefire way of getting loads of support for your petition!
  • Lies, dammed lies, and statistics. A competent statistician could undoubtedly show that if you've been involved in a no fault accident you are less likely to be involved in an accident again. Of course the insurance companies wouldn't really be interested in that one. They are crooks, on a par with those who commit so called 'application fraud'. The companies may well be committing 'actuary fraud' (lying about the stats) but there's no way of checking because the stuff is not independently audited and is apparently commercially sensitive.
