Discounted parking fine Parkingeye
Sailwild
Hi I recently appealed a fine because either I forgot to put in my reg into the number machine in Aldi Supermarket or I typed it into the machine incorrectly. I shopped for 30 mins and have a shop receipt to prove it. Parking Eye state they take 28 days to reply to a appeal therefore I will have gone over the 14 day discount period. If Parking Eye reject my appeal will I still be eligible for the discounted fine of £50 that they offered me initially or will I have to pay the full amount of £100? Many thanks

what you should be doing is 2 things
1) complaining to ALDI with copies of the receipt and any proof of patronage like other receipts and redacted bank statements , demanding they cancel the ticket or you will shop elsewhere in future
2) you appeal ONLINE as keeper to PE using the blue text template from the NEWBIES sticky thread, also adding a line that "an occupant of the vehicle was a legitimate shopper in store and to see the attached copy of the receipt showing proof of patronage and they should cancel the charge immediately"
I refuse to answer your actual question because to me its irrelevant , you complain and also appeal and pay nothing , so your question becomes a moot point and irrelevant - ie:- ignore the bribe0 -
Only a judge can tell you that you 'have to', and in the case of PE and Aldi, this won't be going anywhere near a judge.will I have to pay the full amount of £100?

Did you speak to Aldi? I have quite often witnessed customers showing their parking ticket to the manager (this in Leek) who has taken their details and said that he would deal with it and the 'fine' would be cancelled. It seemed an everyday incident to him. I'm assuming he did deal with it as there has been no come-back in the local paper which is pretty keen on reporting these kinds of issues. After all, presumably Aldi contract PE to manage the parking.
If it can be stopped at this level there's no need to take it any further which can frighten some people into paying up.0 -
Honesty will get you nowhere with this firm.
State you were a genuine shopper using the car park DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES as to why it may have happened.
Remove ANY information that makes their case stronger, this is known in law as a defence.
Appeal directly to the manager not the lacky, but park outside the car park or they will do it again.
Then if they cancel it, do not ever enter any car park or business they operate this scam in.
As you have just found, its not that cheap after all is it.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -

So now you have read the NEWBIES thread and stopped panicking about the daft discount bribe deadline. which of the two types of PE PCN do you have?
As per the example linked in post #3 of the NEWBIES sticky, which type is yours?
Do not appeal as driver, obviously.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you for your replies. I complained to Aldi but they said it was nothing to do with them  and told me to send my receipt to parking eye which of course I have done. I wait to see what Parking Eye will do and if they reject my appeal. If they do I still don't know if they will expect a £50 or £100 fine payment. Either way I will not pay as I have a receipt as proof I was in the shop at the exact time of the penalty and I now suspect the machine I used in store to be faulty. This is because I was in Aldi again this week and noticed two out of the three number plate entry touch screens do not work on the left hand side unless you push really hard. As two of the letters of my number plate are on this area of the screen I think this is where the problem must be. I have taken a video recording of the faulty screens. So thank you Aldi, cheap food but very sad customer service. As a long term member of Which magazine I feel a letter coming on to them;)0
