Time well spent - paid exit fees and moved on

I am on the Cheap Energy Club Collective Fix Feb 2017. I've been seeing prices of fixed deals rise almost before my eyes and with the announcement that the CEC couldn't do another collective fix I decided to bite the bullet and move suppliers - even though I will have to pay a £60 exit fee to British Gas.

After a few hours of research I found that moving my gas and electricity separately got me the best deal. I got my gas fixed until Dec 2018 with Better Energy at a lower price than the collective fix but had to pay a little more for my electricity with Places for People. I could have got the electricity cheaper with Economy Energy but the reviews I found were pretty dire.

Hopefully I've done the right thing. I reckoned that had I waited until I was within 50 days of the end of the collective fix prices would have been quite a bit higher.
