Well generally people are not going to listen to the strong opinion from people with no formal qualifications.
British Gas might be expensive but I do not believe the quality of their work, materials match to a unknown plumber. Please free to prove it with any links, survey results, etc
Please present the survey result where people say statistics where people
Their customer service is appalling. If i'm paying a premium price i expect premium service.
A lot of companies could learn from Amex. Absolute first rate. Here and abroad.0 -
Thanks for the responses all.
In answer to some of the questions we will definitely be staying for 3 years but this could easily turn into 10 or more. We are updating the kitchen anyway so if we did decide to get gas it wont be too much fuss to put in a gas hob which is why I mention it (I'd be happy with induction I'm just sick of having ceramic in my rental so I got a bit excited about the prospect). I was just thinking if we were going to get gas at all we may as well do it before we move all our furniture in and settle down as I can imagine it might be a bit disruptive?
The house is probably well insulated but there is a loft conversion and its timber framed so difficult to see but EPC assumes its insulated due to being build in 2000.
Ignoring the cooking aspect the main thing we are interested in is if it is more comfortable (quickly able to heat house, whatever time we get in), if it will be cheaper if month to month and if it adds value to the house. The first and third point I hadn't really thought of before and they do make it seem worth the initial outlay (if under 5k) as well as the cheap bill aspect.
Thanks for the advice, I will get some quotes (likely not from British Gas I'm afraid) when we complete and go from there!0
