Re-pointing walls

Hello

I live in a 1950s end terrace in N/W England. Next Spring I was thinking of having the walls re-pointed does anyone have any idea what this might cost.

A rough estimate for a decent repointing job which involves raking or grinding out the old pointing to a depth of about 8mm (or deeper if the original pointing is very bad) will cost anywhere from about £20 to £40 per square metre (depending on where you are in the UK) plus the cost of scaffolding.
It's the removal of the old pointing that is the time consuming (and messy) part and you may find that the person you get in to do the repointing will employ a couple of labourers to do this part.

I would 2nd shaun, but would point out (no pun intended) that the guys raking out the old mortar will more than likely be using cordless grinders with mortar rake attachments on them.

The mortar rake attachments really speed up the job. If you have a steady hand and are not afraid of hieghts, then you could do the repointing yourself. It is not hard.
