I just got an email that I am having a new Capital One Mastercard issued for security reasons.
Anyone know what might be causing this or which retailer might have been the leak? I haven't seen anything in the news lately.

You may never see or know where the leak has happened if the security in place is decent enough and this issue has been spotted prior to many customers losing funds on cards.
I think there is no reason to know or want to find out what has happened and accept the fact that they are on to it and resolving the issue in question, You may see a story come up in the press if it is a big enough issue or if it is only a small problem you may not.0 -
It could be a merchant hacked and so a precaution0

Got my email on 1st Nov and the replacement card two days later.
Make sure you go and change any stored payment details if you have any otherwise you'll find transactions will be declined when they cancel your old card.0 -
I had a Capital One account a few years ago and my card was cancelled for the same reason.
Nothing was reported in the national media; as posted above you might never find out where your data was breached. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Thanks for the responses. Got the new card today. It actually has the same long number, only valid dates and CCV are updated. Thought that was a bit odd.0
