Problem with person i sold item to

I Sold my Hifi speakers to someone 2 1/2 months a go. They were advertised as collection only due to the weight and size of them. The person who bought them asked if i could deliver to them to him which i said was fine. The speakers were in 100% working order and when i got them to his house he just shuffled them into room which was full of high end Hifi equipment, stacked floor to ceiling. I said to him "arent you going to plug them in and try them" he declined the offer and said it was okay. fast forward 2 1/2 months and he texts me saying there is a fault with one of them.He is demanding i either refund him or pay for them to be fixed. not sure where i stand on this as i know they were working, i offered to show him them working. he is now threatening to get his friend to come with him and bring them back to me saying make sure i have money ready for him. I politely said i will not be refunding and he replied "we will see" i have a 4 year old son and my partner live with me and now i am just expecting this person to turn up at any time and not sure what the best course of action is. Any advise would be very welcome. i have googled the guy and it turns out he has a histoy of violence

One possibility is he has taken parts from your working speakers and used them in speakers he was repairing. So even if your speakers are not now working it means nothing.
I suggest you speak to the police (on 101) about the implied threats. They should advise what to do if he turns up and behaves in a threatening manner.0 -
Call the old bill and tell them exactly what you have told us, then tell the geezer you sold the speakers too that the old bill are aware of threats been made to yourself.
With regard to the speakers you should of insisted that he plug them in at time of delivery to cover your own backside, as it goes i would tell him to sod off.0 -
Def call 101, you have been theatened.0

Does this person have your address? The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

The police won't be interested in implied threats, however there maybe enough evidence to deal with an offence of harassment.
The police will advise him to call 999 if he turns up threatening him.0 -

If he's got previous they may well be interested and for all we know he's on probation.0 -
