MSE Cheap Energy Club: altering monthly payment info

I may be being completely thick but, whilst my Energy Club details has me paying £55 per month for electricity, I actually now pay £61 per month - and I can't see how I can amend this info.

Any advice welcome! :)

You contact your electricity supplier to whom you pay your money.

Perhaps I didn't explain clearly: I just want to change the figures on the Cheap Energy Club site so that the comparison quotes are properly relevant?
  • Log in to the Cheap Energy Club and on the first page at the bottom under "Current Tariffs Details" click the "Edit Details" button to change and update your usage quantities - your usage may have changed since you first set it up. Save the changes then get an up to date comparison.

NB There may be some variation to your actual direct debit payments depending on whether you are in credit or debit with your supplier and some suppliers also increase monthly direct debits during the winter months to take account of increased usage.

Your tariff has not changed. The £61 is based on your projected usage/year which it would appear has changed; ie, it has increased. You need to check your last bill as it should have the information that you need to update MSE CEC. (Estimated Annual Usage) You cannot fiddle around with the monthly payment. If you could, it would be meaningless and not give you an accurate comparison.

Many thanks, both, for your useful answers, and that does make sense. However, I've just checked my last EDF bill and the estimated annual usage was only around 15kw higher than what I'd already input on MSE CEC. So MSE CEC is still showing monthly payments as £55 ... I guess I'll send in another meter reading and see if EDF adjust things, and take it from there ...

How long has your fixed contract got to run? The annual cost will be x months at £55 plus 12- x months at £61. At the most you are talking of a £72 difference on a £660 annual usage projection.

Many thanks for that, Hengus - I hadn't allowed for the fact that the annual cost would include payments going backwards, as it were.

Rather annoying that I'm signed with one of the big 6 (EDF) and seem to be on the cheapest deal! £61 a month seems rather a lot for a one-bedroomed flat with storage heaters (of which rarely is more than one ever on) ...
