french connection

Has anyone else had bad experiences with Interrent car hire? I rented a car from Stansted Airport, was specific that I didn't want or need their insurance as I already had an independent one (and showed them the policy) They agreed all that, charged me £60 saying it was a refundable deposit then I found out afterwards that it was for the very insurance I already had and didn't want. I couldn't believe such a bare faced lie and con trick. They refuse to refund me and won't communicate with me. We found the company through Rentalcars.com and they said they would investigate but are now backing away. Is there some sort of regulatory body for car rental firms that I could contact? Also I just wanted to warn other people as this was a real scam - staff member just kept me talking, shuffled papers around, took ages and relied on the fact that I wouldn't notice what he was doing. I also think they forged my signature on their copy - it wasn't on the one they gave to me. Beware everyone, they are con artists, probably on commission and encouraged by the company.

Presumably you paid by credit or debit card, so investigate a chargeback with your card issuer for unauthorised payment.

OP you should really change the thread title if you want some assistance, calling it French Connection is going to make others think its about the clothing brand.

I presume french connection is just your ID and nothing to do with the car hire company? V confusing

It's because when you start a new thread it asks you to put a title, and people who don't know any better sometimes use their user name.
