Do I need a Fire door

I'm doing some renovations to the inside of my house (First Floor Flat/Maisonette)and want o know if I need to install a fire door.

I have removed an internal wall between a bedroom and the kitchen/dining room and converted it into a through lounge/kitchen. I was told by the council building control that I needed a door put in between the entrance of the lounge and the hallway, but I can't recall if it needed to be a Fire door. There was no door in that exact spot previously but there was one between the halway and the kitchen (although it wasn't a Fire door)

Can anyone advise if a Fire door is needed?

Thanks!

Definitely. Fire door. Even if it weren't in the building regulations, building regulations are a minimum requirement and it's a very good idea to make kitchen doors fire doors. The cost is worth it.
