VR headset for iPhone 5S or Xbox One

I'm looking at getting a VR headset for my husband as a Christmas present, and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. He's got an iPhone 5S (might be upgrading to a 6 in the next year) and an Xbox One. I've had a look at some of the VR headsets on offer, but I don't want to pay £500+, or have to buy a Playstation or high-end computer to make it work.
A lot of the mid-range models I've seen seem to be designed for android phones rather than iPhones, and I haven't seen anything that runs using an Xbox. Do either of these options exist? I don't want to get him the cheap possible works-with-any-phone version if it's not really worth it, as I'd like it to work with a good selection of apps or games, but I haven't really found anything that fits what I'm looking for. Any help is gratefully received, TIA

Nothing really available for the xbox one as far as im aware. The ps4 vr headset will work with an xbox one but doesnt give quite the same experience. No head tracking and no 360 view (basically puts the screen an inch away from your face) Its a bit more immersive but not the full deal. Occulus rift is supposed to be able to stream something similar from Dec with an app.
As far as im aware with phones its all done through the phone itself the headset is there just to hold it in place and blok out the real world. Forgive me there will be lenses to direct the right portion of screen properly.
If you have an iphone you could try downloading one of the VR apps (search for vr) and see if its suitable for what your after. The headsets shouldnt be too expensive really.

Thanks. I think the Oculus rift looks great but the price is way out of my league. I think something for £30-60 is probably the order of the day for now, particularly as I don't know if it'll only get used a few times and then left to gather dust. I've read a few reviews which say the Homido, the Freefly and the Tepoinn sets are all good, but each also has its downside, as expected! I was going to get the Freefly because it has a little controller, but apparently that doesn't work if you have iOS 9.2 or above. I'll end up closing my eyes and picking at random at this rate0 -
Sorry to bump, but I'm still stuck! Doesn't suppose anyone has any recommendations for a £50ish headset at all? I'm going round in circles here0
