IPT increase again

I read a prediction about ten + years ago that IPT would end up being increased dramitcally as it tends to be circa 15% in many European Countries and the Government would want to "Harmonise" with Europe.
It won't ever be made into VAT as vat registered companies could then offset it against their vat
Agree that is won't ever be made into a VAT, can just see IPT being the same %.
We do pay a lot less IPT than other countries, that much is true, although I suspect their premiums are an awful lot lower.0 -
Perhaps if they genuinely cracked down on fraudulent/cash for crash/whiplash claims it'd be easier to swallow another 2% rise on IPT.
It was either that or an increase in fuel duty I guess. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
I wonder how increasing the IPT is going to help the JAMS......0

The Government pushed for years to get insurers to provide lower premiums and then start to push up rates by increasing the tax involved. Wonder if they will start moaning when the numbers of uninsured drivers starts to go through the roof?
I think the Treasury described it as a tax on insurers and not on the public. Really?0 -

They are naive enough to think that insurers won't pass that cost on.
Just like insurers didn't (sarcasm) pass on the 3.5% or then the 0.5% increases.
Or the Flood Re levy...0
