Hi
We've recently moved into a new home - it came with a gas fire (flueless, log burner type effect) in the living room. The previous owners never used it and when we came to use it it didn't appear to be ready to rock as it were. We've had a gas safe engineer in who said basically it hasnt been used because the room/space its in doesnt comply with gas safe regs (not enough permanent ventilation in the room, not enough clearance from the top of the fire to the wall above it etc). Neither of us are that bothered about gas fires, so we've decided to replace it with an electric one...Question is can we sell the Gas one? appears to be a decent make (Franco Belge Belfort Flueless gas stove)...Is Ebay our only option or are there any other places that would buy it off us (thinking one of those sell your old stuff type shops?) - seems mad not to get some pennies back as its never been used. thanks.

The fire may have met the regulations in force at the time it was installed which is the important bit - British Gas pulled the "not compliant with current regs" on a little old lady, and charged her a fortune to knock a bloody great hole in the wall for an air vent.
Regs in force at the time of installing the fire didn't require a vent, and as the room in question was already draughty, adding a vent just compounded the problem.
Selling your fire on ebay is probably the best way to maximise the money it sells for - Check out delivery options and prices first and make sure you don't lose out on shipping. Listing it as "buyer collects" will put most people off and it will sell for a lower price. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
Around £1200 to buy new, min room size 33m3, 100cm2 permanent ventilation, opening window, only 3.1kw output which you will lose more heat through the vent than you will gain so you could fit it in the garden & watch it through the window, I wouldn't fit it in my house if it was free, best of luck with it thoughI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
