is LANDLINE useful for credit scores?

Hi,
Basically, moving home soon and currently have BT internet with weekend calls (totally unlimited, 76 mb download, 20 mb upload) for £52/month including line rental. which is close to 17/month.
New house already has Virgin cable connection installed, so I was thinking to take the one of the faster plans from Virgin and noticed, that some of the plans offer internet and state that Line Rental is not needed.
Meaning - I will not have a landline number. and I will not have to pay £15/month of line rentals.. Which is not bad, as we never use it anyway (too many free minutes on mobiles to use) and all incoming calls to landline are from someone trying to sell us boiler, ppi or insurance claim
So well, I though I do not really need the landline anyway.
So then I thought:
I got mobile contract for few years now, I am on Electoral roll for few years now.
Will retaining the Landline improve my credit score if needed (it is still very good tho), or better question - will the getting rid of the land line reduce my score??

So far as I know, the CRAs don't use this information. They may try and harvest your landline/mobile number and keep it on their files about you, but the best way is to be ex-directory and never tell creditors your numbers. So no, it shouldn't affect the score.0

sounds good.
What about switching energy providers?
for example: I apply for mortgage, get the Offer and then, before it's transfered to the Solicitors, I decide to change my Energy provider.
will that have any impact?I own an EV. AMA0 -
You are asking the wrong question
Credit scores are not useful, they are an invented number packaged to try to sell you services to improve the random number.....0 -

Yes the credit score is is meaningless to us, but this does not answer the OP's question.
Yes having a landline will help your credit score, and while this may not be the score you see when you log in to your Experian account, lenders have their own internal way of scoring you, and I can tell you for a fact that having a landline will only add 'points' to the way lenders score you when applying for credit. Having more points via their own scoring system will help meet their credit scoring requirements.I am a Mortgage Broker.

hm.
well, when I look at the ClearScore report, it shows BT as Telecoms account, but it does not distinct between internet and phone contracts.
What about Virgin? Will it be visible as just Telecoms account?I own an EV. AMA0 -

I couldn't answer that to be honest. When applying with a lender simply entering your landline number on an application will improve the score, I'm not sure what would need to show on the report.I am a Mortgage Broker.

From what I can see, some landline/broadband providers are on credit files, while others are not.
So I assume perhaps it doesn't make a huge difference either way.0 -
Agree with Ginger bob, never give out your phone numbers.
We are ex directory, have been for decades, we are on the TPS list, never give out our number and yet we still get sales calls ?

Some places just random dial any number.
If they are calling from outside the country, they probably consider themselves insulated from bothering about checking TPS registration.0 -
i believe majority of those places dial randomlyI own an EV. AMA0
