Buying clothes off ebay...

Dilemma- £40 for a second hand pair of jeans on ebay ("worn a few times") , or £90 for a brand new pair from a shop?

  • £40 jeans!!! Everyone's got a bit cheapness in them. wink2.gif

Just tell your mates that they were from the shop if they ask! laugh.gif
  • buy secondhand, its great for both your pocket and the environment, especially if its non organic cotton that is been debated.

i have bought loads of clothes on ebay over the last few years and indeed sold lots too and they have always been as described, protect yourself by checking the sellers feedback.

use the £50 difference enjoying yourself rather than on the short lived feeling of something been brand new.

  • I would definitly buy the £40 jeans, I like my jeans broken in for me.
  • I'm thinking about selling my levis on ebay, is there a good market for moderately worn jeans?

...and would it be better to show pics of them being worn, or not being worn?
    My TV is broken!

  • Thanks for the advice guys. I know I should get them off ebay, but you always worry what you're going to get. Also, £40 for a pair of second hand jeans seems so much!!

No one has bid on them yet, so if I don't bid, maybe they'll get relisted at a lower start price? I'm so cheap!!!

Do you think I could email the seller and say I will buy if she lowers the start price by a tenner? Can that be done mid-auction?

As for selling your jeans frivolous_fay, I would show them not being worn. Say that you have only worn a few times (only if that's true, obviously!) and say they were from a pet and smoke free home (if they were!). If there are any "imperfections" or sign of wear, mention them and include a picture of the problem areas (this always reassures me)

Well, although they're not what I would call 'distressed', they're pretty well-loved, with wear to the ankles (hem? cuffs?) a touch on the knees, and, ahem, where my chubby thighs push the inner seam together... :o

But... pleasantly faded and very comfy :)

I thought the 'problem areas' might be a selling point, but perhaps I'm deluding myself! :D

  • £40 for Jeans?? Have you tried looking on eBay.com?? I paid $5 for a pair of my Levis from WalMart on holiday and the others were $17.99. Seems they were on some sort of Multibuy but you might get new ones cheaper in the US even with paying for shipping!!
  • Whoa, i buy my jeans off ebay, but for £10 MAX! Im too cheap to justify spending £40 in a shop on jeans let alone ebay!

Not sure about the first one, but for me I exit out of a page straight away if someone is actually wearing the clothes (unless they're or swiped from google images or something along those lines)

    Don't ask why!
