Remote control switches

For my birthday my youngest bought me some remote control plugs (allows me to turn things off and on from the comfort of my armchair) - he must have thought I was getting too much exercise. So i proudly set them up and demonstrated them to much ooing and ahing.

That was the same night that we found out we had a poltergeist.

In the middle of the night the radio came on ... I went down to find out what the noise was and just as i opened the door it went off again. This happened several times but sometimes it was the radio, sometimes it was the lights and sometimes it was the TV and it happened at different times of the day.

I thought maybe the cat was walking on the remote, so i removed the batteries, but still things magically turned off and on. After several days of this we finally caught our poltergeist ..... It was $@"#&% taxis, no they weren't bringing ghosts to the house, their radios must have been triggering the sockets.

So, for all you technical and electronical geniuses one simple question .... How can I throw the $?@#&% things in the bin without offending my youngest.

Order some infrared ones instead. Line the walls with tin foil. Surprised you have not done that already.

It prevents THEM watching you and drilling holes in your head whilst you sleep :)

  • I have some Status remote control plugs on two different remotes and I live about 50 mtrs from a taxi rank and have not had any problems.
