it is quite possible to have an alcohol level above the legal limit that registers on a breathalyser and still be quite capable of rational thought.
I'm assuming she wasn't staggering or slurring her speech . I think this is heavy handed and intrusive.
You'd get done for contempt of court if you turned up drunk. Bizarre you think it would be acceptable

As stated previously , there is a big difference between still having a bit of alcohol in your system from the night before and being drunk/incapacitated
( would've thought a weegie would know that:) )0 -
I got a letter at the start of this year telling me I was selected and gave me a small time frame to opt out with valid evidence.
I did get the evidence but forgot to hand it in, but did phone to explain I had mental heath problems and autism so would be almost impossible for me to do it.
Never heard back, so guess they just never called me in.0 -
I've never done it but I'd love the chance to get a chav locked up and confirm the rest of his life being ruined. My employer even pays as normal during jury service :beer:Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0

I just got summoned for jury duty at the age of 70, I wonder if I can be excused because I normally have a nap in the afternoon.
There was me thinking after my last time on jury duty that I would never have to serve again as the judge said we would not have to serve for at least 5 years and I was 65 at the time.
I thought the age limit was 70 but it is 71.
I tried to claim travelling expenses the last time but was told I should use the bus with my bus pass and since I was not working no work expenses either.
At least I should get a free meal out of it the days I serve and drinks in the jury room.0 -

I would love to be selected for Jury Service. My Dad was selected but couldn't do as he was waiting for a hip op and couldn't sit for a long period of time.
He joked that he should tell them my daughter wants to do it lol. He's been selected a couple of times. In fact he has actually done Jury Service years ago.0 -

Seriously there, you have made a bit of an offensive comment there assuming the people at court will only be chavs, you get criminals from all walks of life, violent crime or otherwise its just they often have more money to defend themselves so get away with it.0 -
Rule of thumb, there's no fire without a spark. Always say the person is guilty no matter what.0
