Buying a house on an unadopted road plus no gas

Options
We are looking to put an offer on a house which is on a short (three houses each side) unadopted roads - what do we need to know?

The house also has no gas, and currently has an oil fueled boiler, we don't currently know if the rest of the road has gas, how would we find out?

You need to find out whether the six houses share the cost of maintaining the road equally, or whether there's some other split. You may also want to know what the costs have been over the previous few years, and how decisions over maintenance are made.

The utilities searches will show you where it is, if it's anywhere near. You don't need mains gas to have gas - you can get bulk gas for heating and cooking, or bottled gas for cooking.
