Nissan Recall Notice

I've recently had a recall notice from Nissan for an issue for a car I bought in 2011 (so out of warranty).
About 5 months ago I had to call out breakdown and have a very expensive repair (£2k +) for what I believe is the same problem.
Although it's out of warranty and I didn't use the official agent (why would anyone?) could I claim the car has not been sold fit for purpose and claim the money it cost me back?

So apart from your issue you had 5 months ago, which may or may not be the same problem as the recall, you've had 5 years of happy motoring. I don't see where you get the idea of it being not fit for purpose.
Was it new when you purchased it and why didn't you approach the main dealer/manufacturer when you had your problem with it? Some details of what this issue is would be useful?0 -
The only recalls issued this year covering Nissans built in 2011 are the perennial Takata airbag fiasco and X-trail tailgate struts.

If we extend that search to recalls issued since the start of 2015, then there's an April 2015 Micra recall for an engine management software update, but that's it. If the car wasn't new in 2011, then there was an August 2015 recall for a relatively small number of 2008 Notes and Micras to replace the steering rack.
OP - more detail needed.0 -

So you want 5 years use of the vehicle and then you want Nissan to give you what you paid for it? How about asking for a bit on top to account for inflation as well?:rotfl:0 -

It's a problem with the partical filter. The issue I had with the partical filter.
It sounds like there is an inherent fault with it that they know about.0 -

There are only two official Nissan recalls (via DVSA) since 1992 which contain the word "filter", and none that contain the initials "DPF".
One relates to Notes and Qashqais produced between January and October 2008, was issued in December 2008, and covers a possible fuel leak at the DPF. The fix is to tighten the union,
The other relates to Qashqais produced between September 2011 and January 2012, was issued in April 2012, and covers a loose union on the fuel filter, not the DPF.0 -

if you had taken it back to a nissan main dealers they may have picked up on the fact that it was a known problem or subject to a recall and dealt with the matter accordingly0 -
Particulate filters are notoriously troublesome on Qashqis if they have been subjected to a lot of short stop start journeys. An 'Italian tune up' (high revs on a motorway) occasionally will usually clear them. My mate had his PF taken out, but I'm not entirely sure whether that is legal.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0
