When I was renting a while ago I had problems with the legacy from the previous occupier - debt collection letters and on one occasion bailiffs at the door. Just kept sending the letters back and told the bailiffs to go away, which they did. Then the place got repossessed, but that was down to the landlord not the previous tenants ...
  • We have the same thing - every time we get post to the old owners I Google the return address and call the company to inform them. Most companies just delete you off their system and if they push for a forwarding address I just pass them on to the EA who managed the sale.

If bailiffs do turn up, just tell them you are not the previous owners. They have no right to enter unless you invite them (so don't!) and just show them ID and they will leave. They keep turning up to ours at 6am.

Unfortunately this is likely to continue indefinitely as the bad debts keep getting 'sold on'. The new debt companies always start with the easiest option which is the last known address - yours!
My daughter still receives debt letters for the previous occupants at her address eight years later. There was a thread on this not too long ago and eight years is quite a short time compared to some!
You have done as much as you can by notifying the most important parties. You will eventually grow a thick skin and just throw the letters in the bin.
Don't lose any more sleep over it - enjoy your new home.
