in Credit cards
Applied online after mse saying I was pre approved.
Had no decision and was told they would be in touch.
Anyway received letter in post asking for photo copy of driving license or passport which isnt problem but I've never had this happen before.
My credit history is very good,I pay my cards off in full every month, all 11 of them lol.
Only want the card as im fan of sex pistols and virgin have exclusive designed cards, other than that its no benefit to me.
Anyone had this happen to them.is it worth the effort?
They say application is with their brokers snd they will email me after receiving proof

It's worth the effort if it's worth it to you.
Referrals are not uncommon.0 -

Up to you of course, but I'd say it's not worth the effort to send copies of valuable identification documents through the post to fall into the hands of a faceless organisation who could just as easily loose them or have their systems hacked. Write back to them and state that your data protection policy excludes their unsafe requirements, or just ignore them from now on and apply elsewhere.0 -
Its most likely due to volume of credit accounts you have that they may suspect ID fraud0

If a lender has to ask for additional ANYTHING then there are discrepancies on your file period.0 -
Ive checked experian, noddle and clearscore and no discrepancies.
Surely I would have a flat no if that was the case0 -
I'm in the same position. Financial institutions are obliged to 'know their customer.' Clearly Virgin have interpreted that more stringently than most companies and want proof. It has nothing to do with discrepancies. My circumstances are very stable - with the same address for 20 years.
There have been a lot of reports on here of the Post Office credit card, which is run by the bank of Ireland, demanding extra information. At least Virgin aren't demanding certified copies!0 -
I applied today after being pre-approved and received an email saying "we're considering your application, and we be in touch soon" 🙄
My credit score is perfect according to Experian, so I am not sure what they are pondering over, but hope I get an answer soon so I can transfer my Barclaycard balance and then get rid of the damn thing! 🤔😊
Did you get a response yet? How long did they take to get back to you?0 -

Not yet. I'm almost at three weeks. It's a market-leading offer and they are obviously struggling to cope with the volume of applications.0 -

No card yet, just emails giving last 4 digits of card number. No request for any documents.0 -
Didn't wanna start another thread on this exact topic.
I've just applied for a virgin money credit card and I've been asked to send in proof of identity. I've just moved house so although I've changed all my addresses on my accounts it's too early to show on my credit reports. However I can't send my passport so I need a certified copy to send. The list of people that they accept to do this, I don't know anyone. And post office charge £10.50 for it which is ridiculous. I don't want the card that badly.
However they advised me I could go into a virgin money store to do it. However my nearest is over 30 miles away. My husband is actually going to be working near it this weekend, I guess they couldn't take a copy of my passport and certify it without me being the one handing it in?
I usually avoid anything where it asks for certified copies coz it's a nightmare!0
