RAC want to increase my insurance to change the address

Have moved houses and have asked RAC to update my policy which I'm paying for monthly - contract expires in June next year.
As they were changing the address they said they'll change the premium meaning me paying at today's prices which double's the monthly amount I'm due.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there any way to get them to keep me on my original prices?

Move back to your old house?

They agreed a rate on the basis of your old property. That rate no longer applies as youve moved, there will be different risks involved. Only see two options. Pay it or cancel (and pay the fees involved). Dont know which will be better off but guessing if your premium has doubled it might be better looking at quotes for your new address and taking the hit on the cancellation fee.
  • If you have moved to a postcode that the insurer deems more risky, expect increases in premiums
  • Thanks. The current prices I get using the comparison web sites are actually higher than what they give me.
