I've recently found myself in a similar position to the OP - leaving the civil service with less than two years pension contributions - and like them the notes on the quote form that I received from myCSP indicated that any transfer had to go to a defined benefits scheme (wording as per post #14). As this appears to contradict their own literature suggesting that it could be transferred into a personal pension (as per post #3) I queried it with myCSP, and have just had a response confirming that as I have less than two years service I can indeed transfer to a personal pension, there is no requirement for it to be a DB pension.

I had PensionTech's technical references from post #8 in my back pocket ready to challenge if they had come back saying anything different, but it wasn't necessary.
