I ran windows 7 and then whilst thats running installed and used windows 10 on a virtual machine with just 2GB of RAM.

Unless your loading a lot of programs at the same time with large documents and media etc then its probably good enough until its time to upgrade.

Just waiting for the new batch of AMD's to arrive to see if they are any good.

I don't know if it is pricing error. But cheapest SODIMM DDR3 8GB is £24

    Thanks again Cisco.

    Crucial say I need 1.35 volt DDR3L-1600

Those Patriot chips are 1.5 volt DDR3 without the L for low voltage suffix

I have asked the supplier whether the 'Patriot PSD38G16002S 8GB DDR3 PC3-12800 (1600MHz) SODIMM' in your second link is suitable or not.

I suspect not due to the voltage differences.

    I didn't notice you need DDR3L.
The price of the second one jump anyway. ignore it.

You can find the cheapest price here

  • The memory slots are at the back of laptop and replacing RAM is easy. But I think there might not a significant improvement by just adding memory. CPU also plays a critical role in overall system performance.
